Creeeepy

Started out not liking this movie and considering asking for my SEVEN DOLLAR MATINEE cost to be returned! However, I got past the annoying volly of words between the hotel manager, Mr. Olin (Samuel L. Jackson)and the author (John Cusack). When the room started to come to life and the viewer isn't certain whether these paranormal things are actually happening or he's losing his mind, it got very creepy and much more interesting. As the story develops and the depth of his pain and torment is evident, it became quite a poignant story for me--as a mother and grandmother. I always tell people that as strong as I am, I can't imagine having to deal with the particular kind of pain that he and his wife have endured--very differently. So, the sort of ambiguous ending fit the feel of the story for me. I'm certain there are many people looking for the slash and monster type of "scary" movie who will be disappointed, but I could tell that many of the folks I saw the movie with enjoyed it. I did.
